I did this yesterday, $mart mate, in order to try and ascertain what would be involved for you, in respects to learning how to create an HD pack for "Wolf: ET". I wondered if it would be as complicated as my "RtCW" HD experience and the answer is, "Yes it definitely is." .
Learning to re-texture things in this environment is very difficult at times and can really grind you down. Anyway, I chose one map, "Siwa Oasis", for a quick texture run-through and spent several hours replacing the old textures. Here's some screenshots, using "ET: Legacy". I'm using the vanilla renderer here, I can't find how to upscale this setting, for some reason I only have this option available in my "ET: Legacy" settings.
I changed most of the textures, the props and the plants, but there's still much more to do. When I finish my "RtCW HD" pack I'll make one for "Wolf: ET" for you, amigo .
Nice work so far, Gman.
Looks kick ass to me!
Thanks, lads . That was just the first texture pass, I've now updated it and changed just about everything, including the old ground textures which, although they were great for their time, looked very flat and featureless today. I've used a combination of 4 different sand textures to achieve the look I wanted.
Here's more screenshots:
I've got a couple of small models to finish and that will be "Siwa Oasis" retextured.
Nice work once again, Gman. That truck model in particular looks amazing.
The only remade texture that needs some work in my opinion is the tarp/sheet shown on the first screenshot of your last post.
OMG! It is marvellous !
If it works like HD-ET, it means your work will fit also for other maps (original and/or custom) using the same "textures", example the same sand, the same trees etc … Is-it the case ?
If YES it is the right thing !
Thanks for your work but take your time, initially I just wanted to learn how-to make these things …. OOoooops
A few new screenshots, this time from Goldrush and Seawall Battery :
I've still got tons to do, especially on Goldrush, but things are taking shape now.
Keep up the remarkable work, Gman.
That's actually nice, but some players doesn't like to download, so it would take quite time to download when you're connecting to a server...
Not arguing just saying.
Nico
No problem with that Nico, it will work like the HDET pack : just a big file in etmain folder thant WILL NOT BE DOWNLOADED by ETPlayers.
You and your teammates and regulars will have to download it separetely on wolffiles webiste if they want to.
No mandatory to play with it, no side-effect.
V55
Railgun
Würzburg Radar
Fueldump updated:
Remarkable work, Gman. My only suggestion is to improve the lighting on the Radar map, because it seems a little too bright.
V54
Very nice Gman thanks a lot for your work ! Can't wait to beta test it on my nitmod server !
Another update, this time a few more screenshots from "Würzburg Radar" and also "Caen 2" :
Caen 2
Goldrush is pretty much finished now .
Here's a few more screenshots from Goldrush, mostly of the bank :
New soldier models. I've modified some of the faces, eyes and uniforms of the troops to make them look at least semi-realistic:
Würzburg Radar updated :
New command posts are ready :
The new HD pack is almost ready, I just need to check a couple of things and run a few more tests .
The raster motorcycle model :
Re-textured Jagdpanther:
Würzburg Radar is pretty much finished now :
Railgun is now near completion too :
Weapon improvements :
That's Seawall Battery just about completed too :
Wow, you're fast!
Those texture improvements look great, but I can see a texture alignment error on the first Seawall Battery screenshot that you posted. The button is halfway shown on a piece of machinery.
nice work gman. Tell me when its ready for testing :)
Thanks, Jay, I'll keep you posted .
That's the HD Pack released to the public now, lads, thanks for all your help and encouragement, it's been a chaotic couple of months .
Note to self: Never edit a working beta version just prior to releasing it .
work only for classic maps ?
My Wolf: ET HD Pack is now available for download from 'ModDB' https://www.moddb.com/mods/splatterladder-wolfet-hd-pack
I tested the map, 'Marrakech Streets 2', with my 'Wolf:ET' HD Pack and the results have been very good.
Here's some screenshots :
