Hi folks,
yes, I'm still alive (if you want to call it so).
I'll take the opportunity to provide you with some information.
Topic 1: Splatterladder
10 years ago (OK, 9 years and 11 months) I was asked to save Splatterladder from going offline.
And as time goes by, several new versions of the operating system were released, php was updated, and hardware became much more powerful.
After some troubles with the hoster at that time (they implemented a SPI firewall which dropped answers to the server queries if more than ~30 players were online on a gameserver) SL was moved to a different hoster.
That was in 2003. Since then no hardware update occurred, and I spent dozen of hours patching software for an outdated operating system.
I'm currently preparing and testing a new server to move SL to.
Once the tests are completed, I'll move SL to the new server (expected downtime ~ 1 hour).
Topic 2: TeamSpeak server
As you know (and see on the main page), we are running a free TeamSpeak server which is used by several clans / groups.
Problem:
Our current license , a so called Non Profit License, will become invalid on June 15th 2021.
Unfortunately Teamspeak doesn't offer NPLs anymore.
Without a valid license only up to 32 slots on a single server are possible.
Increasing this number comes with an annual cost, starting with $55 for a 64 slot server.
TS replaced the NPLs with sponsorship. Unfortunately Splatterladder doesn't really fulfill the requirements for it.
Result:
Based on that fact, I'm sorry to have to inform you, that we'll stop providing the SL TeamSpeak server "soon".
Topic 3: Splattervoice Mumble Server Hosting
SV also runs on an (in principle) outdated operating system. Updating it is a pita.
Therefore I decided to take Splattervoice offline once the transfer of SL to the new server is completed.
Topic 4 , or call it 1a+2a:+3a
Since the NPL is bound to the IP address of the current server, I'm not able to use it on the new server.
Instead I'll install a Mumble server, and implement a viewer for it on the main page.
Clans / groups interested in an own Mumble server (or a dedicated channel in the main SL server) are welcome.
Cheers and happy fragging

Thanks a lot for your work !
And do you know why facebook rejects each link to our beloved site ?
Ich habs nicht ganz verstanden aber ich glaub es geht irgendwie weiter :)
Danke fr die Info
Melde Interesse an :)
Hello again.
The downtime should be quite short (<2 hours) since everything is ready and the server still running (for over a month).
As soon as I'm able to reach proddi, I'll ask him to change the DNS entry.
@Gandalf: Euren Spessarträuber Mumble hab ich bereits aufgesetzt.Sobald die Domain auf den neuen Server zeigt werde ich Dir die entsprechenden Daten (mumbleview, admin etc) zusenden.

Dankeschön
And 4 the Rest: don‘t be afraid of mumble - same same but different :)
Some SL Mumble server are still active
Faster than hoped /expected
Yesterday I noticed that Splatterladder was down. The database was corrupted and I wasn't able to recover it completely on the machine.
Therefore SL was moved by me to the new server.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to contact Proddi (who is still the owner of the SL.com domain, he didn't answer my tries over several channels) to change the DNS setting (which IP is behind a domain).
Therefore I redirected Splatterladder.com to the new server which leads to an SSL certificate warning.
Splatterladder.eu now point to the new server and shouldn't raise any warnings.
Since I tried to contact proddi for 2 months without success, I don't know how long the .com - domain will remain working (the old server is currently only running teamspeak and is redirecting the domain, which isn't exactly a cheap adventure). I will keep on trying.
Therefore I ask you to use the EU domain instead of the COM domain to avoid warnings or missing images / styles
I still have several things to fix (I was able to import the most recent tracker data, but much else needs to be rebuilt manually which is quite time consuming).
The tracker is up and running.
If you have (or your hoster has) any kind of firewall or other script which blocks server queries, please ensure that the new IP 144.76.209.235 is not blocked.
---------------
Cheers

Thanks for the info mate on the IP. I understand all this crashes are not easy to fix and how much time it consumes from personal life... So thank you for your hard work and whoever is involved with you.
cant post more than posted DD
seems atm is buggy since yesterday afternoon
thanks You so much Volker
Thanks for the information.
Just restarted the tracker.
You should have received an email
no email and the tracker is buggy again
Kate, unfortunately the Forum tells me that you have disables receiving PMs.
Sent you a private message on wolffiles
i send you pms also
Got the one from you here on the forum (but wasn't able to answer since it states you have blocked incoming PMs).
@All: I'm in contact with Teamspeak, maybe we'll be able to continue TS hosting (at the moment 50:50 I would say)
will look to mine pms settings, fixed ,mine bad
Have you ever tried Mumble?
myself i still use discord cuz i can contact our site and servers hoster plus times to times i chat with other clans friends and at discord you have mappers and modders ETL, ETJUMP, NITMOD…
i just noticed, the server banners are not working anymore.
Another thing is, when i go to a topic over the "Recent forum posts" box and want to post a fast reply, its forcing me to login allways. So its not possible to post something. When i go trough the forum and want to post something over fast reply, it works.
Edit: well, its not saving the login. Allways when i revisit forum, then iam logged out.
i have the same problem with my windows computer but not with my ipad tablet
Jay, hopefully Proddi will change the Domain settings for the com domain soon. Then I will be able to adjust the local settings to get rid of the problems.
In the meantime please use the EU -domain https://forum.splatterladder.eu/
Cheers
Volker
Hi all,
after I was able to contact Proddi, the Com domain is now configured correctly and points to the new server IP.
TeamSpeak servers are up. The current license is valid until December and will most likely be renewed.
TS Viewer on the main page needs to be implemented again and also some (dozen) configurations changed to reflect the change of the COM domain.
Happy fragging
Schnoog
Thanks again, Schnoog, I'll tell the lads.
Thanks You Volker
