New player - how to get started? Options

Hello!

I never had an opportunity to play the real old school ET. When I was younger and the game was in the prime time, I had no internet access to play online. Its been ~10 years now and I just recalled the game I always wanted to play. The problem is - it is so confusing to even download it. I have browsed a bit but could not find any straightforward tutorial how to start the game (im not really an IT guy).

So here is my question: could any of you link me to a working game installation (with a clear explanation) and some tutorials regarding how to start playing the game and NOT to be a total noob?

dunno at what hour you play Smith but at etc they have players all the day and playing till around 01 the weeks days
