Since the new punkbuster release 1.279 many of you have problems connecting to several servers. The cause of this is an outdated PBNS.DAT which comes from the previous version and is not automatically updated, because one is now less than ever possible to connect to that server. Not until you have been connected the actual Punk Buster software is loaded if there is a difference between client and server. If you connect to servers which are running the last PB Update and the client is running an old version, the PBNS.DAT avoids an GUID authentification (awaiting gamestate) because of operating with outdated data for the masterserver. (new: 192.246.40.62 - pbguidauth.idsoftware.com)

Solution

• 1. download pbsetup.exe from www.evenbalance.com
• 2. delete or rename the old pb-directory and create a new one in which you copy the downloaded file.
• 3. start pbsetup.exe, follow the instructions and download a completely new pb-software.
• 4. connect to an updated server, like this one, and you will receive a new PBNS.DAT from that server.
• 5. done!

I have tried that, I have tried going into console and typing /reconnect, and I have reinstalled several times but nothing seems to work. Is there something else to try maybe?

bei mir reichte die pbweb.exe aufzurufen. die pbsv.dll wird in pbsvold.dll umbenannt und eine aktuelle gezogen. ein connect auf einen aktuellen server bringt dann auch die neue dat ins verzeichnis

Download the Pbsetup as above delete the current pb folder in your game directory first as it says to. Create a new folder called pb in the game folder to replace the old one. Put pbsetup in it and run it, then add ET and click update, it will now reinstall pb into this newly created folder. The problem is it doesnt create a pbns.dat file and trying to find a server to join that gives you one is impossible. So download this one http://files.filefront.com/pbnsdat/;8065913;/fileinfo.html putting it into your new pb folder in the game directory and you can then connect to pb straming servers again.
