Only thing that comes off the top of my head is the Proccessors. Some people have complained about Duo Core effecting their gameplay ET. Basicly their issue was with both CPU's being in use for ET. They corrected the problem by switching it to run off 1 CPU only. Could give it a try, see if it helps/

Try to make ET to only use 1 CPU:
  • Start ET.
  • Switch to windowed mode (CTRL+ENTER).
  • Open the task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL).
  • Select processes tab and find the process of the game executable (usually named "ET.exe").
  • Right click on the .exe and select "set affinity".
  • Then select just 1 CPU.
Don't know if you can make a program to always use 1 CPU only w/o fiddling around with the task mananger.

Maybe unrelated ...

pb_sleep time set to 500 helps reduce persistent / intermittent useless data flow for me ...
Reduced some of my previously "Unexplainable" Hard Disk Activity due to the wonderful new PunkBuster Servces with Kernel System Files and two Services just to add "Security" ...

anywho ... hope this helps some how... *AMD FTW imo ...* Intel are still pretty good. just as i am an ATi Fan but my new PC has an NVidia (w/ AMD CPU).

Heres one way to do it

example
To start a process on CPU 0, use the following command switch:
/affinity 1
For CPU 1
/affinity 2

so adding this to the ET shortcut targetrow

c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 2 et.exe

will make ET.exe run on CPU 1 everytime you start the game from the icon on your desktop.
