Also, Jay, I got a reply from Hellbaron about using his "RtCW Venom" mod on servers. Here is what he said in his "pm":

"My mod is already for iortcw, fully tested on latest version, MP and SP. I recommend to not rename my files and order, or you will compromise the shader work and most of the new effects." - Hellbaron

These are the files contained in the "RtCW Venom" mod download, lads:



You just place them in the "main" folder for "RtCW". They contain new textures and shaders for all uniforms and weapons and many other textures too. The only other files contained in the download are these:



Inside the "Readme" file there, it says, "Put the file autoexec.cfg you want into "main" folder in your RTCW installation!!" .

The latest version of this excellent mod, "RtCW Venom Mod 5.4", can be downloaded from HERE

I'm still only on an Android Tablett with BT keyboard and therefore very limited (ever tried to open a big zip-file on Android... funny isn't the right term).
Server hosting should not be a big issue, but it will take several days to create a master-installation which can simply be rsync-ed and write all the gamepanel-setting files.
Would be great if anybody could create an ioRTCW server installation (best with all available mods) for 32bit Linux and offer this as a zip-download.

But's on the radar now :)

gman, its at the ETc| the last sign wich not shows up ingame, neither in chat or in names.

The dream scenario would be where someone who's just bought the game and therefore just running the "RtCW 1.0" version, could connect to an "ioRtCW" server, download the server files needed and join the game. The download speed on your server is excellent, Jay, a massive improvement on the original.

Np amigo. I love "Venom Mod", it really brings "RtCW" to life, giving it a very modern look. I was testing it yesterday in "RtCW Cooperative Mod" and it looks stunning. I'll post some screenshots later.

if i change the protocol i can let 1.0 clients let connect.
com_protocol is not write protected in iortcw. Let them downloading the venom mod is somehow possible. But upgrading clients by connecting to 1.41 or newer doesnt work with my skills :)
If players like that is the next.
