I received this info from Even Balance for player who experience following error:

If you own a nForce4-Board and have some freezes/lockups when joining a server, try install following driver:

My motherboard:A7V8X-MX (VIA KM400 Chipset) and Radeon 9200 gfx card and my ET freezes too

yea I got a totally diff motherboard too....with radeon 9600 and sis chipset.....can't play the game on pb servers for over 1 week now!!!!
I have done EVERYTHING short of buying a new PC...and still get the problem...PC freezes during or just after connecting to pb master servers...99% of time anyway...once or twice it let me play one map the after new map change...bang PC freeze...

ffs I'm so f****** pissed off at this, 1 week can't play through NO faullt of my own!!

on the other hand, today I was able to play on some pub servers without probs so maybe it did help

Since the last PB update I had been experiencing the "freeze" of sound,keyboard and game in ET while in the start countdown. This would happen every map change , eventually requiring a reboot and loss of XP on campaign

Having spent a week searching for info, and reading that the nForce boards had a problem perhaps involving the SATA controller, and doing every driver update imaginable, I still suffered from the same problem

It then occured to me that I had 1 drive on the IDE channel for the O/S and 2 SATA drives for games , progs and storage.

Why not move ET to the IDE drive ? As easy as copy and pasting.

This I did , reset all the shortcuts for all the programs I had to run ET , and jumped into some games.

OMG , no more freezes. Does PB have a problem with some SATA controllers ?

I have a Gigabyte K8NSC-939 mobo , nForce3 chipset.

I am also having the same problem. I mostly use the room [FAG] Clan Public XP...I used this particular room for the past month with no problems...then all of a sudden i started to play and it froze up in about 2 mins...i uninstalled my video card and reinstalled...also removed ET and instaled it again...nothing has work...any suggestions...i can play in other rooms tho, which is weird...

Video Card = Radeon 9600 (nvidia 2)
MB = MSI K7N2 Delta 2
AMD Athlon XP 2700+
IDE Hard Drive

i have about 6 seconds freeze on every map, every server during the warmup...
All the PC and its programs freeze, not only ET (for exemple TeamSpeak freeze too at the same time)

my PB is correctly updated.
i use NForce 2 ! (Asus A7N8X Deluxe), 7600 GT (AGP)...

I notice that with the 'first freeze', my hard drive LED stay always ON (even if there no hard drive activity, and even after exiting ET...)
and also my 2 IDE DVD Burner (Lite-On) disappear from windows... (only virtual drives survive to this bug)
Only a reboot can resolve this bug freeze :/

I think it's linked to Starforce because the only news on my PC during last weeks is my install of Trackmania Nation... which contains Starforce Drivers...

Yes...EXACTLY...i have been having the same problems during warm-up too...also the LED light stays on when i exit ET nothing works, the only way to fix it is to restart...i cant figure it out...i am almost temped to buy a new video card...something a bit more powerful, but dont wanna spend the money on it, if its not the problem...anyways, let me know if u find out anything new on this...

I'm always searching why this f*cking bug "erase" also my IDE Burners from Windows...
It seems not to be Starforce as i think... i've uninstall Trackmania and his Starforce Driver... but the problem is still here.

I've reinstall ET too, with fresh download, patch, and PB update... the bug is still here.

If someone have an idea :)

Hi !

I post just to say that my freezing problem (+LED always ON +IDE Burners Disappeared) has been resolved since yesterday (Jan 07, 2007)
ET works perfectly, absolutely no lag at all _o/
Don't ask me how, it's a ... miracle ?

I have only some clues :
- this problem is a PB Issue (not a starforce one), maybe which bug with an other program or with window's registry or i dunno what....
- i have install nothing new on my pc (hardware or software) EXCEPT the .Net Framework 2.0 from Microsoft... (i have an old 1.1 Framework version before)
- or maybe there has been some (minor?) update with PB on the client or server side... but 90% of my pb file are dated as 10-25-2006 or 12-25-2006, only pbcl.db and pbsys.cfg are 08-01-2007. (my freezing problem starts 12-12-2006).
