So guy, now we should define the needings...
What kind of service are you thinking about? Should it work like pbbans (which means a kind of automated system, which queries the server and parses the responses [maybe over rcon instead of pbucon]) Should it apply bans to other server? Should it be only some kind of pillory? Do we need an API (to call via http-request, to display data on webpages, or handle data to the system)? Do we need an appeal system? questions over questions :) -------------------- |

Do we need an appeal system? No matter what type of system is put in place, an appeals process would definitely be required. No system is perfect and mistakes will be made, from time to time. -------------------- ![]() |

Here is my response to this.
Now I haven't been on SL for quite some time other than to check to see who's on the server but to check the shout box or the forum is something I haven't done and now I have and an interesting topic has come about regarding Silent mod and AC. I can tell you that I am mainly a Nitmod fan as I like Nitmod more than any other mods though I can't complain about any others as yes I had played them all and each has their differences... Silent mod is a great mod I will not deny that as my old clan VNM ran a silent server and when we merged with WEB then WEB too had a Silent server for a while before YCN decided to up sticks and fuck off... The Silent AC though by far is better than the one Nitmod has but further more so I had noticed Silent is a lot more lighter as well... In other mods I had some lag and a high ping where as in Silent I had a perfect ping, no lag at all even though at the time I was using a mobile broadband dongle of which I shouldn't have been able to get such a good ping to begin with but I did. Yes most servers now are running Silent other than any other mod or Clans/Communities are switching to Silent as they had been with one mod for a good long time like WEB has with ETPUB. I don't mind ETPUB though it lacks an anti cheat system which means that as an admin if there ever was a hacker or someone using a bot in the server then I'd have to go into spec to record a demo and sit there for a full map before then going into the demos section to replay that demo back with R_Shownormals 1 enabled to determine if whether or not the player is/was using hacks. Different for a bot I know as usually you can pretty much tell straight away unless however it's humanized aim... But if ETPUB had a working anti cheat then it'd make the admins job a lot easier as it could instantly ban a player if it detects a cheat/hack like the SMAC (Silent Mod Anti Cheat) does. |

It's hard to understand the ideas listed in the "pad" ...
Can you summarize the mechanism ? A PBGID database ? Need an engineer ![]() And what about sharing IPs adresses ? Irrelevant as kids know VPN easily ? edit: word 'summarize' instead-of 'resume' This post has been edited by $mart: Dec 23 2014, 07:10 PM -------------------- |

Read through the Pad and sounds good to me as far as i understand. Simple IP Ban should also be included since some kids are lazy and wont try vpn :-)

I`ll try to bring my ideas into non technical words:
Player can report (suspected) cheater, based on evidences with alot of data (IP, Playername, GUID, when PB is enabled also things like OS-username, installation path aso.) Those data is summarized and the evidences released for review. If the reviewer think , Yeah he`s cheating, they can approve the evidence. Based on those data, some kind of evidence-level could be took into consideration ( 1/10 reviewer approves => 1 , 16/20 => 8 , 15/15=> 10 .... simple mathematics, but implementing a minimum reviewer count would be needed) IPs, more then 3* times reported will be banned (bye bye VPN ) Based on requests for Playername, GUID and IP (more possible with pb on) the system API(this part can be called for example by php) will return a rating* ( 0 => save or not listed , 100 => cheater) and a classification* (1= suspected only, 2= rulebraker....) With the right script in place the serveradmins calling the api will be able to configure which kind of bans (classification) should be applied, and starting from which rating. If such a system is in place, a further step could be to challenge the server via rcon (negative= we need to know the rcon password... so if you don`t trust me it`s a no-go). *to be discussed -------------------- |
