Lag, Lag Options

I get lag when I fight people and in big areas. I'm playing on a laptop and I got 800 mhz cpu, 512 mb ram and 128 mb graphics card. My ping is normally 50 so that isn't the problem.. My question is, what's the problem, cuz the system requirements are way lower than I have and I got everything on the lowest :S . Help please?!

Hmh, big areas.. Is it actually lag (ping getting higher) or FPS dropping? If you don't know, turn the fps counter on and check it..

Well, if it's about your ping, you can atleast try following things ->

1. Tweaking your network;
Set rate, snaps and those thingos.. instruktions can be found here -> http://et.igwane.be/page.php?id=7
(scroll down for tweaking network shit)

2. Change your connection type to "CABLE/LAN/xDSL" or "IDSN" in case it's Modem (default) or vice versa if it's cable-thing or idsn.
This helped me to get my ping better, with Modem I had always some lag, now I don't have any (it's "CABLE/LAN/xDSL" for me)

If it's your FPS dropping, check some threads about getting better FPS from here splatterladder..
Try also "set cg_smoothclients 1" to console, without ""-marks.

Ok thanks mate, It's not my ping. My ping is always 50 and under. But what does cg_smoothclients 1 do?

I don't actually know, but, it really made my fps better.. Found it actually from here splatterladder, from some other fps topic.
