Here's a first look at the basic Allied and Axis player skins for Battalion 1944
![]() ![]() ![]() Very nice indeed ![]() Also, in further news, Wasti, a map-maker from the Battalion 1944 website, gave us Wolf ET fans a real treat tonight when he showed us what could be done when using the Unreal Editor for custom map creation. Here's what he had to say : "You can already play around in the unreal editor to make custom maps. However, obviously all of the Battalion 1944 assets aren't available to the public yet. So really for now, we are only able to do terrain layouts and rough drafts of maps using the default assets in UE (or making our own). For example, here are a few shots of an (extremely)rough draft of Fuel dump from Wolf:ET in unreal 4 that I did just to get the layout and scale correct and ready for when the assets for Battalion 1944 are released to modders." - Wasti ![]() "Here is a shot of a rough tank and the tunnel. I have light sources, I just haven't taken the time to make a model for the lanterns and lamps yet. I'm still playing around with the lighting balance in the tunnel, I'm not sure if I can reuse the original spots for the lighting yet but that's how I have it set up for now." - Wasti ![]() Superb work from Wasti and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of his excellent mapping ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

Seeing acqu's ET Headquarters mod, this wouldn't be too far fetched for Enemy Territory. I always thought having a bit of personalization would be a nice addition to the game.
Anyways, I like customization and in my opinion it is the best way to have unlocks, rewards or micro-transactions on a purely cosmetic level and not with gameplay changes. I think Battalion 1944 could be a nice game to play in the future and if they refrain from gameplay unlocks/transactions it's even better. The Devteam have already confirmed that all in-game "unlocks" will be for cosmetic things only, KeMoN, e.g., name/slogan engraving on your gun, Clan patches on your uniform and so on. Acqu's work for our Wolfenstein community is truly amazing and he should have received far more credit than he has done. Wolf ET needs folk like him ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

That's good news. Acqu's work for our Wolfenstein community is truly amazing and he should have received far more credit than he has done. Wolf ET needs folk like him ![]() Yes, so true. The interest in his mod was saddening low. In my opinion he did a fantastic job with implementing a concept seen in most modern games into ET and he received way too little credit for that. Who knows, maybe once ET: Legacy is completely stable, we might think about adding such cosmetics to unlock. Would be a neat addition to reward regulars. And it could also be used as an incentive for people to use a built-in 'ranked' system. Anyway, I'm drifting off-topic  I have been looking more into Battalion 1944 and Days of War lately and I always get those two confused. I think this video is a very nice start and it brings up a lot of good points. Idtech3 has unique physics and movement and I think this is what makes me unhappy about most modern games and also both of the above. Strafing, Trick-jumping, etc. are things that you do not see in games anymore. The only exception I know of, being Dirty Bomb which is being developed by Splashdamage. In Battalion 1944 and Days of War the movement is a weird mix between realism and fast-pace imo. Both games claim to be fast-paced, but playing ET or Dirty Bomb this doesn't feel right. I'm interested in both and will keep following the development of both so please keep posting updates. It's a bit unfortunate though, because we have been waiting for the return of "old-school" shooters for a long time and now there are immediately two games in this segment. I hope there is room for both and I wish both development teams that their game will be successful! We'll see. I, personally, will wait for the modding scene of both games to take off, before getting into them. Mainly because like I said, the movement and physics are a major point for me. If there are mods recreating that, then I'm most likely on-board. Both games already have a vivid community with particular interest in modding, so I'm quite positive we will see something like this, once the games take off.
